I asked Dawson a few questions about his very professional build.īMR: What was the original inspiration behind choosing the Conway Scenic as a prototype to model?ĭS: I’ve been following PENNLUG for a few years now, the models they build are truly amazing and they inspired me to build a train with that level of detail. Their colorful consists include a number of vintage locomotives and cars, including the 0-6-0 Canadian National 7470 that Dawson chose to model for his display. The Conway Scenic is a a tourist line in the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire, offering passenger excursions through the White Mountains. ![]() If you’re in the Jackson, New Hampshire area this summer, swing by the Jackson Public Library and check out this awesome LEGO rendition of the Conway Scenic Railroad by Dawson Santoro. Recently, Scott has shared with us a video showing some testing of his molded R104 turnouts. Scott Hoffemeyer has been working to bring new track geometries in high quality molded parts to the LEGO train third party market. Now I just need to find a suitable locomotive to use M size wheels and give those a shot too… BrickTracks Progress on R104 TurnoutsīrickTracks is another known name in the community. This is a great solution due to the higher level of customization and cost (it costs a lot to create molds), but injection molding always has a better quality, especially for moving parts. So far, I’ve only had experience with Nate Brill’s wheels from Shapeways for XXL wheels. This is exciting to see, I personally would love to try out some injection molded XXL wheels. The platform includes: a bench, a newsstand with a newspaper, a lamp post, and five Minifigures. One of the images shows the structure that holds up the roof. The roof of the overhang makes a 45 degree angle from each side through a 90 degree turn as the building bends. The overhang shows arches for support, a ticket counter, and two lights. The train station is a moderately sized building with an overhang for the passengers to wait underneath. This set would include: the train station, platform, tracks for a Lego train set, and five Minifigures. This Lego set concept is for a scaled modular train station designed by using Lego Digital Designer (LDD).
